Troubleshooting
The badge still says Not connected
Two causes account for almost all of these:
The code has not been pasted yet. Adding the server in Claude is step one; signing in is a separate step. In Claude Code, run /mcp, pick aov-ppu, choose Authenticate. In Claude Desktop, select Connect on the connector.
The code expired. Connect codes live 6 hours. Select New code, paste the fresh one, then Check connection.
"Claude stopped waiting before the connection finished"
Claude Code keeps its sign-in window open for 5 minutes after it opens the browser tab. Take longer and your paste lands on a door nobody is behind — the app records that this happened and tells you so.
Start the connection again from Claude Code and paste the same code. It has not expired, and generating a new one here is the one move that would break what still works.
Cursor, VS Code or ChatGPT will not connect
They are not supported yet. The server accepts sign-in callbacks only from your own machine and from Claude's own hosts, so another client is refused while registering rather than connecting and then coming back empty.
Supported today: Claude Code, Claude Desktop, and Claude on the web.
Claude says it cannot change my offer
That is correct, not a fault. Every tool is read-only — nothing in this connection can create, edit, activate, pause, duplicate, delete or reorder an offer, or change a discount or a trigger.
Claude should give you the link to that offer in your admin so you can make the change yourself.
Claude asks which placement I mean
Display order is a rank inside one placement, so there is no shop-wide "first offer" to return. Name the placement — Post-purchase upsell, Thank you page upsell, Coupon offer, or Order status page upsell — and ask again.
The numbers do not match my dashboard
Check which number you asked for:
| You asked for | It matches |
|---|---|
| A date range roll-up | The Analytics dashboard |
| All-time totals | The Statistics card on Home |
| Per-placement rows | The Analytics per-placement figures |
Two mismatches are expected, not bugs:
- A Coupon offer shows no revenue. It rewards a future order the app cannot attribute back, so revenue is omitted rather than reported as
$0. - Per-placement rows do not add up to the shop total. Post-purchase counts views and claims on its first upsell only, while its revenue spans every slot. Ask for the shop-wide summary instead of adding rows together.
If you compared an all-time number with a dated one, they will never agree — they are measuring different things.
"The range cannot exceed 90 days"
Date ranges are capped at 90 days. Ask for a shorter window, or ask for all-time totals, which have no range.
Claude answered without checking
If a reply looks like it came from memory — no tool call shown, or numbers that do not move when you change the date — ask again and say check the live data. MCP clients show their tool calls, so you can always see whether one ran.
Starting over
Settings → AOV MCP → Disconnect cuts every connected client at once and stops the current code. Then generate a new code and set up again from scratch.
This is also what to do if you think a connect code leaked, or if you have lost access to a machine that was connected.
